A mesma lei no. 559 de 31 de dezembro 1898
que autorizou a cunhagem da série comemorativa
ordenou no seu artigo 3°, IV mandar cunhar no estrangeiro a soma de
20.000.000$000 em moedas de níquel. No ano 1901 e 1902 estas moedas
de 100, 200 e 400 réis foram
cunhadas com a data como
MCMI. As
moedas de 100 e 200 réis
substituim as
moedas da antiga
série. Com a lei no. 953 de 29 de dezembro 1902 artigo 4, foi autorizado o
recolhimento das moedas de níquel do antigo
cunho. A moeda de
400 réis é um
valor novo na
série. Os desenhos eram de Rodolfo Bernardelli (1852-1931) e os cunhos foram abertos por Paulin Tasset,
sigla P.T, de Paris. Existam moedas sem a sigla P.T. As moedas foram cunhadas todas no exterior, em Hamburgo (Alemanha), Birmingham
(Inglaterra), Viena (Austria), Paris (França) e Bruxelas (Belgica).
In dezelfde wet nr. 559 van 31 december 1898 die de herdenking munten van
1900 voorschreef werd onder artikel 3°, IV
bevolen dat in het buitenland nikkelen munten moesten worden geslagen tot
een bedrag van 20.000.000$000 réis. Als resultaat werden in het jaar 1901 en
1902 deze munten van 100, 200
en 400 réis
geslagen.
Het jaartal is
geschreven met Romeinse cijfers als MCMI. De munten
van 100 en 200 réis
vervangen die van
het oude type. Volgens wet nr. 953 van 29 december 1902 artikel 4 werden
de oude nikkelen munten ingetrokken. De
munt van 400 réis
is een geheel
nieuwe waarde in de
serie. Het ontwerp is van Rodolfo Bernardelli (1852-1931) en de stempels voor deze munten zijn gesneden door Paulin Tasset,
initialen P.T, aan
de munt te Parijs. Er bestaan munten zonder de initialen P.T. De munten zijn allen in munthuizen buiten
Brazilië
geslagen namelijk in Hamburg (Duitsland), Birmingham (Engeland), Wenen
(Oostenrijk), Parijs (Frankrijk) en Brussel (Belgie).
The same law nr. 559 of december 31, 1898 wich ordered the minting of the
