Decreto-Lei No. 849 de 9 de
novembro 1938 autorizou a
importância de 10.000.000 de réis de moedas de cupro-níquel de 100, 200, 300
e 400 réis. Essas moedas deveriam ser cunhadas para comemorar o primeiro
aniversário da constituição de 10 de novembro de 1937. O decreto-lei No.
2305 de 13 de junho de 1940 e No. 4020 de 15 de janeiro de 1942 autorizamos
uma segunda e terceira cunhagem de 10.000.000 réis. As moedas têm a efígie
do Presidente Dr.
Getúlio Dornelles
Vargas,
Presidente do Brasil de 1930 a
1945 e 1951 a 1954.
Decreto-Lei No. 4299 de 15 de maio 1942 alterou a composição das moedas
para 88% cobre e 12% níquel. Depois a alteração as moedas adquirirão uma cor mais
ou menos rosa. Estas
moedas são as
ultimas exemplares do padrão
réis, en outubro de 1942
entrou um novo
padrão monetário
"cruzeiro". A autoria dos cunhos é dos gravadores Walfrides
Bruno Trinidade (reverso 400 réis 1940), Leopoldo Alves de Campo (anverso de
todas as moedas), Orlando Moutinho Maia (reverso 100 e 400 réis 1938 e
reverso 100 réis 1940), Benedito de Araújo Ribeiro (reverso de 300 réis de
1938 e 1940) e Basilio Francisco Nunes (reverso de 200 réis 1940).
Wet Nr. 849 van 9 november 1938 autoriseerde de muntslag van 10.000.000 réis
aan munten van 100, 200, 300 en 400 réis gemaakt van koper-nikkel. De munten
moesten worden geslagen om de eerste verjaardag van de constitutie van 10
november 1937 te vieren. De wetten Nr. 2305 van 13 juni 1940 en Nr. 4020 van
15 januari 1942 autoriseerden een tweede en derde aanmunting, ieder tot een
waarde van 10.000.000 réis. De munten dragen de
afbeelding van

tot 1954. Volgens wet Nr. 4299 van 15 mei 1942 werd de samenstelling van
het muntmetaal gewijzigd naar 88% koper en 12% nikkel waardoor de munten een wat roze
kleur kregen. De munten
uit 1942 zijn de
laatste exemplaren
met de waarde nog
in réis. In oktober 1942
werd een nieuwe
munt
geïntroduceerd, de
"cruzeiro". De ontwerpen zijn van de graveurs Walfrides Bruno
Trinidade (keerzijde 400 réis 1940), Leopoldo Alves de Campo (voorzijde van
alle munten), Orlando Moutinho Maia (keerzijde 100 en 400 réis 1938 en
keerzijde 100 réis 1940), Benedito de Araújo Ribeiro (keerzijde 300 réis
1938 en 1940) en Basilio Francisco Nunes (keerzijde 200 réis 1940).
Law Nr. 849 of november 9, 1938 regullated the coinage of 10.000.000 réis
in coins made of copper-nickel with the values of 100, 200, 300 and 400 réis.
These coins had to be struck to commemorate the first aniversary of the
constitution of nvember 10, 1937. The laws Nr. 2305 of june 13, 1940 and Nr.
4020 of january 15, 1942 authorized a second and third coinage of 10.000.000 réis
each. This series of coins have the image of
